A Toast to Fathers! Happy Father's Day

Cheers to Fatherhood...while us mothers stay firmly behind you

Father’s day is here and it is sad that the media is not flooded as it did when it was Mother’s day. Weeks ago, I knew when Father’s day was. Days passed and it skipped my mind and I forgot. Thanks to Jambo Jet Team, I received a promotional email and I remembered. It’s this Sunday! 14th June!

What do you appreciate about the FATHERS in your life? drop a comment after the post ;)

The society and media has made us believe the worst in men and fathers. It has made them believe that they are incompetent parents, but I believe the category doesn't fit all . As wives, we might be annoying because we want them to do things our way, but we still have to appreciate the little or big efforts done.

STEP FATHERS: These are the extraordinary Step-Fathers who have stepped up to raise children they have come to love and take as their own. The title holds a lot when it comes to stereotypes and feelings. I recently talked to one and this is how it went:
“Being a step father is an amazing thing and a blessing. It is weird that I’m a father but not quite. Something might be missing, but most of the time I have to step up and be the Father my son needs. Love him. Guide him. And that is basically the most important thing. The children. I married the whole family, the mother and the son. I knew that from the word go.
He may not be ‘my child’, but he is my family now. I know situations might different for others, but one should know this on the word go. You marry the mother, and the children. And just like any relationship, there are ups and also the downs. The best thing is to build trust, show your family love and pray for strength and wisdom.”

We have awesome Fathers out there. Fathers who are down to earth. Working their butts off just to make the children (and wives) happy as well as spend time with them. A father who lives miles away, but makes sure he is home for the weekend just to spend time with the kids. A father who wakes up early for work and leaves after kissing the kids goodbye. A father who sacrifices his comfort for the sake of the children. A father who plays horse just for the kids to ride him but his back aches. A father who needs to be hanging out with friends, but rushes home just in time for dinner and sing a lullaby. A father who prides himself when he sees his family happy. Yes, we have those fathers. Believe it or not. Not perfect, but they do try their best.

To Fathers, as I said, the media might say you are not awesome. They might say you are not responsible. But IF YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT, don’t buy into that crap. Never under estimate the power you have in the lives of your children.

Thanks for being there, loving and taking care of the family, saving the mom's when they are on the verge of a breakdown and so much more. And as JamboJet Team says…even heroes need a break. Take a Sunday off from the boys and treat your family.

Happy father’s day in advance
